Our Commitment
We started Discovery Gymnastics with the desire to share our love for gymnastics and fitness with children and teens. We commit to provide your child with a safe and fun place to discover their skills and develop as they grow. Our loving and skilled instructors are committed to teaching and training your child to discover their best self with confidence and professionalism. We love what we do and we aim to instill that love for gymnastics and fitness in your child too.
DISCOVERY GYM STORY
Norm & Jan McKenzie
Owners
Norm was born in Northern California and began gymnastics at the age of 13. He competed in gymnastics in high school and college. He trained and competed tumbling and trampoline under former world champion George Hery. He started teaching professionally in the mid-1970's.
- 1979 | qualified to be an elite coach
- 1980 | student qualified to compete in Olympic trials
- 1982 | Led TN class 2 state championship team
- 1983-1985 | various TN state champions
- 1985 | coached for Bela Karolyi that produced several regional and TX state champions
In 1986, Norm moved to Columbia, TN and opened Discovery Gymnastics.
- 1991-1992 | Level 9, Child Division All-Around National Champion
- 1992-present | many TN state and regional champions
